Fitness policies

You need a wristband on in the fitness center

Age requirements:

• Must be at least 14 years old

Clothing and personal belongings:

• Wear workout pants or shorts
• Wear a shirt or tank top
• Wear closed-toe shoes
• No blue jeans or pants with rivets
• No open-toe shoes
• Personal belongings are not allowed on the floor (bags, clothing, etc.)
• Use designated lockers or cubicles
• Free lockers are available across from the service desk
• Tobacco, food, glass bottles, and cans are not allowed in the fitness center 

Weights:

• Do not drop or throw weights
• Re-rack weights and return all other accessories to their proper locations
• Allow others to use weights or equipment in between your sets
• Do not remove weights and equipment from the fitness center

Machines:

• Wipe down after use
• 30-minute time limit on cardio equipment during busy times or if members are waiting

Jump roping:

• Due to limited space and for members safety, jumping rope is no longer allowed in the fitness center. Members can use the main gym for jumping rope.

Personal training:

• Sessions must be conducted by Shoreview fitness staff
• Third party personal training is not allowed.

Group X card:

• Must have a Group X card to take classes or purchase a daily fitness drop in pass for $13; $12 Shoreview resident

Classes:

• You do not need to be a member to take classes
• Community center members receive a discount on classes, some exclusions apply
• Silver&Fit, Silver Sneakers, and Renew Active members receive a discount on classes, some exclusions apply

SeniorFIT classes:

• Not included with a Silver&Fit, Silver Sneakers, and Renew Active membership and will have a fee
• Free to anyone with an annual senior membership

Refunds are issued for medical reasons only

Fitness studios:

• Only used for fitness classes or other community center classes
• Do not wear black sole or open-toe shoes
• No gum, food, or beverages (except water), is allowed in the studios
• Clean and place all equipment in its correct spot at the end of the class

Packages:

• Due in full, on or before the first meeting with your trainer
• Personal training form(PDF, 339KB)
• Buddy personal training form(PDF, 332KB)

Sessions:

• 60 minutes long
• Individual sessions include one trainer and one client
• Buddy sessions include one trainer and two clients
• Must be conducted by Shoreview fitness staff
• Personal training package sessions expire one year from date of purchase

Refunds:

• Packages or sessions are non-refundable
• Fitness coordinator may make other arrangements under circumstances such as illness or injury

Late arrival:

• Trainer is late:
  • Client will receive a complimentary 60-minute session if the trainer is 15 or more minutes late
• Client is late:
  • Session length will be shortened by the amount of time they were late and will not be prorated
  • Trainer has the right to cancel if client is 15 or more minutes late

Cancellations:

• Need to give at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel
• Client will be charged for the session if a 24-hour notice is not given
• Client will receive a complimentary session if trainer needs to cancel with less than a 24-hour notice
• New trainers will be provided if the original one doesn't suit a client's needs

Photos or videos:

• City of Shoreview may use photos or videos taken during personal training sessions.
• Photos or videos may only be the participant who signed up

Liability:

The City of Shoreview is not liable for any damages or injuries to participants during personal training sessions.

• The City of Shoreview is not responsible for items that are lost, stolen, or left in lockers or the community center
• Please keep all items locked in the lockers
• Please refrain from using cell phones in the locker room area
• Do not leave items overnight in the lockers
  • Items left in the lockers overnight will be removed
• Towels are not provided and should be brought from home
• Small valuable lockers are available for fee by the lower level service desk
• Fitness center locker rooms
  • For guests 18 years or older
  • Guests must have a wristband to use
