Building and Program Policies

Group Fitness Classes/Studios
  • Refunds are issued for medical reasons only.
  • Participants are encouraged to register at least one week prior to the start of the session to prevent classes from being cancelled due to low enrollments. We will attempt to run all classes the first 1-2 weeks each session. After the second week, classes with fewer than 6 registered participants will be cancelled for that season's session.
  • Participants will be contacted immediately in the event a class is cancelled.
  • Membership is not required to register for our fitness classes!
  • Annual Community Center members receive a 30% discount off group fitness class registration fees (exclusions apply).
  • Silver&Fit members receive a 30% discount off group fitness class registration fees (exclusions apply). SeniorFIT classes are NOT included with a Silver&Fit membership and will incur a fee.
  • SeniorFIT classes are free to any senior with an annual senior membership.
  • Fitness class attendance for members is applicable to the minimum monthly visits required by insurance providers to receive insurance reimbursements.
  • Minimum age is 14. Ages 12 & 13 may sign up with a parent/guardian.
  • Our Fitness Studios are only used for group fitness classes or other Shoreview Community Center classes.
  • No gum, food, or beverages, with the exception of water, is permitted in the studios.
  • Please respect our studio by placing all equipment in its correct spot at the conclusion of class.
  • All participants must wear proper footwear. Please no black sole shoes or open toe shoes.
Locker Room
  • The City of Shoreview is not responsible for items that are lost, stolen, or left in the facility.
  • Please keep all items locked in the lockers.
  • Small valuable lockers are available for fee by the lower level Service Desk.
  • The Fitness Center Locker Rooms are for adults 18 years or older and must have a wristband.
  • Family Locker Rooms are available and must be used for children of the opposite gender ages 4 or older.
  • Towels are not provided and should be brought from home. 
  • Do not leave items overnight in the lockers. Items left in the lockers overnight will be removed.
  • Please refrain from using cell phones in the locker room area.
Indoor Playground
  • The Tropical Adventure is an unsupervised area. Children 6 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Socks must be worn by everyone using the playground.
  • Wristbands must be worn at all times.
  • No running or rough play.
  • For children ages 1-10
  • No food allowed in the playground area.
Pool
  • Children under the age of 6 must be under direct supervision of a swimming adult within arms reach at all times.
  • U.S. Coast Guard approved life jackets and Speedo life jackets may be worn. An adult needs to be swimming within arms reach of the child wearing the life jacket in the main pool. If there is no adult in the water the child can wear the life jacket in the BEACH AREA only. Complimentary life jackets are available for daily use on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  • All swimmers must take a cleansing shower prior to entering the swimming pool.
  • No person with or suspected of having a communicable disease which can be transmitted through use of the pool, shall use the pool.
  • The Shoreview Community Center is a shallow pool facility. There is NO diving in the pool.
  • Proper swim wear is required.
  • Spitting, spouting water from the month and blowing the nose in the pool is prohibited.
  • No running or rough play is permitted in the pool or locker rooms.
  • Glass objects of any type are not allowed in the pool area.
  • Certified lifeguards are on duty. Guests must follow all lifeguard instructions. Please refrain from visiting with the lifeguards. Their jobs are to ensure everyone's safety and must keep their eyes on the water at all times.
  • Persons with open or infectious sores are not permitted in the pool.
  • Young children and infants must wear disposable or reusable swim diapers. Swim diapers are available at the Service Desk.
  • Please see the Pool schedules at the lower level Service Desk or on our website for information about waterpark and lap swim hours.
  • Groups visiting the waterpark will be posted in the Pool Locker Rooms and at the Service Desk.
  • Aquatic staff are here to ensure your safety and enjoyment. Anyone acting in an unsafe or inappropriate manner will be asked to leave.
  • Aquatic staff reserve the right to modify the pool rules as needed.
Whirlpool
  • Whirlpool users must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Elderly guests and guests suffering from heart disease, diabetes or high or low blood pressure should not enter the whirlpool.
  • Maximum time allowed in the whirlpool is 10 minutes.
  • Lengthy exposure may be hazardous to your health and result in nausea, dizziness, or fainting.
  • Pregnant women should consult their physician regarding whirlpool usage.
Kids Care
  • Ages 6 months to 8 years old.
  • Parent/Guardian must remain in the facility.
  • There is a two hour maximum stay.
  • If the two hour maximum time is exceeded, or a child has not been picked up at the time the program closes, a $1 per minute late fee will be assessed per child.
  • $1 per hour rate per child.
  • Child must arrive in a clean, dry diaper. Extra diapers should be sent in the event child needs to be changed.
  • Food and beverages are not allowed in Kids Care. Exceptions will be made for pre-mixed bottles, or water in a Sippy cup and medical conditions requiring food during the child's visit.
  • If a child cries constantly for 15 minutes or more and Child Care Attendants are unable to comfort the crying child, a parent/guardian will be located to return to Kids Care.
  • Children should not attend Kids Care if they display any of the following symptoms:
    • Fever of 100 degrees or higher
    • Head lice or nits
    • Undiagnosed rash
    • Untreated eye infection
    • Diarrhea
    • Vomiting
    • Severe Cold
Membership
  • Memberships gives members access to the Fitness Center (14 yrs and older), Gymnasium, Indoor Track, Waterpark and Indoor Playground.
  • Only Annual members receive the Group Fitness Discount.
  • Seniors must sign up for an Annual membership to qualify for free SeniorFIT classes.
  • Insurance Reimbursements are only offered on the Annual Memberships.
  • There is a membership cancellation fee of $100 if membership is canceled prior to the contract completion.
  • The Annual Membership Billed Monthly does require a 1 year agreement. Once the 1 year agreement is meant, the membership will continue on a month to month basis until member gives a 30 day notice of cancellation.
  • The Annual Membership Billed Monthly does require payment through an electronic fund transfer. We accept payment by Visa, Mastercard, or a checking /savings account.
  • Seasonal Memberships is a three month membership and must be three consecutive months from when member signs up.
  • Persons age 65 and older qualify for the Senior Citizen discounted rate. Youth are 17 and under. Dual Membership is two people residing in the same household. Family consists of 2 adults and dependent children under 23 living in the same household. Proof of dual and family member qualification is required.
Shipwreck Beach and Water Walk
  • Guest must go feet first down the boat slide either lying on their back or sitting down the slide.
  • No climbing up the boat slide.
  • No walking up the boat slide or climbing on or around the slide area.
  • 2 guests at a time across water walk.
  • After falling off water walk, exit the area immediately.
  • When crossing the water walk pads, always continue to move forward and do not stop or move backwards.
  • No running across water walk.
  • Adults may help children across.
Walking/Jogging Track
  • Please walk in single file lines.
  • Walkers please stay close to the inside railings so joggers can pass by.
  • Please no cell phone use while using the track.
  • Wristbands are required and can be purchased at the lower level Service Desk.
Personal Training
  • In consideration of accepting entry into personal training with Shoreview Parks and Recreation, participants waive any and all rights and claims for damages against the City of Shoreview, the Parks & Recreation Dept. or the school district and its representatives, successors and assigns for any and all injuries suffered by participants at any activity sponsored by these groups.
  • Participation in personal training grants the City of Shoreview the use of any photographs taken by the city, of the participants named on the personal training registration form, and in city informational publications released to the general public.
  • All Personal Training packages/sessions are non-refundable. Under extenuating circumstances such as illness or injury, alternative arrangements may be made at the discretion of the Personal Training Coordinator. If for any reason a trainer does not suit a client's needs, another trainer will be provided.
  • If a trainer is more than 15 minutes late, the client will receive a complimentary 50-minute session arranged at a mutually convenient time for the client and the trainer. If a client is late for the scheduled session, there will be a reduction in the session length equal to the time late. The client will be billed at the scheduled rate. If the client is more than 15 minutes late, the trainer has the right to cancel the session and bill the client for the session.
  • If for any reason, a trainer has to cancel their appointment with less than a 24 hour notice, the client will be provided a complimentary session at the next regularly scheduled time. In return, we request a 24 hour cancellation notice. If a 24 hour notice is not given by the client, the client will be charged for the full amount of the scheduled appointment.
  • Packages must be paid in full, on or before the first meeting with your trainer. Personal training sessions are 50 minutes in length. All personal training packages expire one year from date of purchase. Personal Training must be conducted by Shoreview Parks and Recreation fitness staff. Individuals sessions include one Personal Trainer and one client.
Overall Building
  • All children 6 and younger are required to have adult (16 years or older) supervision in our building at all times.
  • Organized meetings in our common areas are only permitted if organized through the Community Center.
  • Parties/gift openings or cake/cupcakes are not allowing in the common areas.
  • No overnight personal storage will be permitted in the building.
  • The Community Center reserves the right to deny admission to anyone who appears to be under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance.
  • Wristbands are required in the Fitness Center, Basketball Courts, Track, Indoor Playground, and Pool. Wristband can be purchased at our lower level Service Desk.
  • The City of Shoreview, and its personnel, are not responsible for items lost, stolen, left on site, or left in a vehicle.
Waterpark
  • No standing, jumping, or diving off the floatable sea creatures.
  • Slide off feet first, sitting or lying on your back off the sea creatures.
  • No rough playing or tipping of sea creatures.
  • Guests may not swim underneath the floatable sea creatures.
  • No hanging on or swinging the volleyball net.
  • No hanging on the rim or slam dunks on the basketball hoop.
  • It is recommended that riders be at least 48' tall to ride the water slide.
  • One slider at a time.
  • Parents of small children are not allowed to take them down the water slide on their lap or catch them at the bottom of the slide.
  • Life jackets cannot be worn down the slide due to possibility of posing a choking hazard.
  • No glasses can be worn down the slide.
  • No stopping, standing, kneeling or going doing down head first.
  • Upon exiting the slide, move out of the splash down and proceed immediately to the steps.
  • Flashing lights and loud music may cause epileptic seizures. Ride at your own risk.

Event Rental Policies

Birthday Parties: Cabanas

Thank you for choosing the Shoreview Community Center to host your special party!  We look forward to celebrating with you! Please take the time to review the following information.   By signing our rental agreement form, you have agreed to adhere to these rules and policies. 

 

Bamboo Bay Pool Cabanas         

  • Pool Cabanas will be available for 3 hours and has a maximum capacity of 16 people.Cabana times listed on your reservation receipt includes your set up and clean up time.Fees paid for the cabana rental do not include the use of the Community Center amenities.
  • You have the option of bringing in your own food or purchasing food from our Wave Café.
  • No glass containers are allowed in the pool area.This includes Crockpots, glass bowls/plates, or glassware.Aquatic staff will be checking coolers and items for glass containers upon arrival.
  • Decorations and balloons are prohibited in the pool area.You are allowed to bring in small party grab bags for your party-goers.

General Information

Please check in 10-15 minutes prior to your event at the lower level Service Desk.

 

The pool cabana will be available to you and your guests only during the 3-hour period reserved for you on your rental receipt. At the end of the cabana rental time, you will need to remove all personal items and vacate the cabana so we can set up for the next group of parties.  Large lockers are available for free to store presents and other items.  Keys for the large lockers can be picked up at the lower level Service Desk.  Please return the key to the lower level Service Desk at the end of your visit.  A fee will be assessed for lost keys.   

 

Pool Cabana rentals require payment in full at the time of your reservation.  We ask that you be as accurate as possible with your head count so our staff can have your event ready upon your arrival and provide good service to your group.  Wristbands are available for purchase at the lower-level service desk the day of your event.   Guests with wristbands are permitted to swim and use the playground for an unlimited amount of time during the pool /indoor playground hours.  No refunds will be given for overpayments or cancellations. 

 

 

Damage Fees

The Shoreview Park and Recreation Department reserves the right to charge your credit card on file $25 following the completion of the rental if you or your guests violate any city policies.  In addition, the city shall charge your credit card the actual costs for damages to the facility caused by you or your guests.  If we are unable to charge your credit card, you shall remain personally liable for any damages.

 

The damage fee will be charged if you are late leaving the room and/or there is an excessive amount of clean up needed.   

 

Cancellation/Refund Policy:

Bamboo Bay Cabana reservation fees and wristbands are non-refundable.

Please refrain from sitting on the tables.  Decorations, banners, or signs may only be hung on our walls using Blue Painters Tape or 3M Command Hooks.  Decorations are only allowed inside the Playground Party space.  The use of glitter, confetti, or piñatas is also prohibited.   Helium balloons are also prohibited in the Indoor Playground area.   Smoking is prohibited inside the Shoreview Community Center.

 

Food and non-alcoholic beverages are allowed only in the Playground Party space.  Please refrain from serving red and purple beverages.   We do not allow glass in the Playground and Playground Party space.   The Indoor Playground is also a nut free area; please do not serve anything with nuts.

This also includes any directional signs placed outside the room.  We do not allow anything to be hung from our ceilings.  The use of glitter, confetti, or piñatas is also prohibited.  Smoking is prohibited inside the Shoreview Community Center.

 

Food and non-alcoholic beverages are allowed in the meeting and activity rooms.  Please refrain from serving red and purple beverages or peanuts and sunflower seeds.  Each activity and meeting room has a sink except for Activity Room 3 and the Island Lake Room.  Each room will have plug-ins; however there is no refrigeration or microwaves available.    The serving or consumption of alcohol is prohibited in the meeting rooms. Alcohol is only permitted in the Banquet Rooms with contracted services through our exclusive liquor providers.

Poolside Party Room

             

  • Coconut Cove will be available for two hours and has a maximum capacity of 40 people.

  • You have the option of bringing in your own food or purchasing food from our Wave Café.

The party room will be available to you and your guests only during the 2-hour period reserved for you on your rental receipt. Shipwreck Beach-Zero Depth

This area is the ideal location for children that are not strong swimmers.

  • Guests must go feet first down the boat slide either lying on their back or sitting down on the slide.

  • After falling off, exit the area immediately.

Floating Sea Creatures

  • Lifejackets cannot be worn down the slide due to possibility of posing a choking hazard.

This also includes any directional signs placed outside the room. The use of glitter, confetti, or piñatas are also prohibited. Smoking is prohibited inside the Shoreview Community Center.

Food and non-alcoholic beverages are allowed in the meeting rooms. Please refrain from serving red and purple beverages or peanuts and sunflower seeds. Each room has a sink and plug-ins, however, there is no refrigerator or microwaves available. The serving or consumption of alcohol is prohibited in the meeting rooms. Alcohol is only permitted in the Banquet Rooms with contracted services through our exclusive liquor provider.

Damage Deposits

A $25.00 refundable damage deposit will be required on all meeting/party room rentals. The contract holder is responsible for all damages incurred to the room during the rental time. Failure to comply with rental policies will result in the forfeiture of your damage deposit. At our discretion, the Shoreview Community Center reserves the right to retain damage deposit fees. Damage deposits are refunded by check within 14 business days following the rental date if all the contractual obligations have been satisfied and there is no damage to the facility or its contents.

Haffeman Pavilion

Rental Agreement

  • Rental times listed on your rental receipt include your set up and clean up time.
  • Once a reservation has been authorized, the contract holder may not transfer or sublet to another party the use of the reserved facility without approval from the Shoreview Community Center.

Policies

 

  1. The reservation fee and the applicable taxes must be paid in full upfront. The $50 refundable damage deposit and the optional $25 beer and wine permit must be paid for at least 30 days prior to the reservation date. Fees paid for pavilion usage and/or beer & wine permit are non-refundable.
  2. The Pavilion will be open based on the times outlined on your rental receipt. Upon arrival, check in at the lower level Service Desk inside the Community Center. Upon check in, the Manager on Duty will unlock the Pavilion.
  3. Pounding of stakes into the ground is prohibited due to many underground electrical wires and irrigation lines. Tents, canopies, and jump houses must use weights and be erected in the designated areas.
  4. The Pavilion has restrooms available for each rental group and will be open during the rental period.
  5. A fireplace is available for your enjoyment. You may request use of the fireplace the day of the event with the Manager on Duty. The fireplace will not be turned on if it is over 80 degrees outside.
  6. Garbage and recycling containers are provided in the picnic area. The renter is expected to do general cleaning of the facility prior to leaving. Extra garbage containers will be provided upon request.
  7. Charcoal grills (2) are available with the rental of the pavilion. Renter must provide charcoal and utensils. Renters may leave ashes in grill for Community Center cleaning. Do not dispose of ashes in garbage containers.
  8. There are no kitchen facilities located in the pavilion for refrigeration, cleaning or tap water.
  9. Outlets are available for usage inside the Pavilion.
  10. No amplified music is allowed in the Pavilion or surrounding picnic area.
  11. Permanent picnic tables (under shelter) are available for seating up to 125 guests.

Damage Deposits

Liquor

The serving of intoxicating beverages is restricted to beer and wine only. No other type of liquor may be served and/or provided at the Pavilion. The serving of beer and wine is restricted to those individuals, companies or organizations who are granted an Intoxicating Beverage Permit by the City of Shoreview. The cost of the permit is $25.00 + tax. Upon receipt of payment, the City of Shoreview will issue a one-day permit to serve beer and wine at the Pavilion. The renter is responsible to have the permit in their possession during the rental time. Keg beer and boxed wine must be served in paper or plastic cups. Non-keg beer must be served in cans or plastic bottles. Glass is not allowed. The sale of beer and wine is strictly prohibited at the Pavilion. All beer and wine must be consumed in the picnic area (concrete slab). Local ordinances and state laws regarding the use of alcohol must be adhered to at all times.

Cancellation/Refund Policy

We are not able to issue refunds for cancellations. Please make your decision carefully before choosing to book your event.

Banquet Rooms

All of us at the Shoreview Community Center are prepared to do what it takes to make your event a success.    To help with this, we ask that you or the organization contact person carefully read this material, share the information with your group, and abide by this.  If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact us. 

By signing our Facility Permit and Contract form, you and/or your organization agree to adhere to the following rules and policies.  Renter is defined as the individual or organization named on the Facility Permit and Contract.

Hours of Use

  1. The hours of the Community Center are Monday-Friday, 5:00am-10:00pm and Saturday/Sunday, 6am-8pm.  
  2. Meeting Room rentals are permitted from 8am-9:45pm (Monday-Friday) and 8am-7:45pm (Saturday/Sunday).
  3. Banquet Room rentals are permitted from 8am-10:00pm (Monday-Thursday), 8am-12:00am (Friday and Saturday), and 2pm-8:00pm (Sunday).  Additional hours for Friday-Sunday rentals are available for rent with additional fees.  The additional time must be added no later than 30 days prior to your event.  

Rental Procedures

  2. The Rental team is available to take your calls Monday – Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm with extended evening hours on Tuesday and Thursday.  We make every effort to return phone calls within one business day. 
  3. An appointment is required for a tour or an event walk-through.  Please contact us to make your appointment.  
  4. Resident fees apply to anyone who lives in Shoreview at the time of booking. The resident of Shoreview must pay for the room rental, damage deposit, sign the contract, and arrange all tours and appointments.
  5. Fifty percent of the room fee is due at the time of booking.  The remaining fifty percent and the damage deposit are due 30 days prior to the event.  Reservations with an unpaid balance due after this time are subject to cancellation without a refund.
  6. Groups claiming non-profit status will be required to submit a MN tax exempt form ST-3 at the time of booking. 
  7. One contact person who is 18 years or older will need to be designated to make all the arrangements for your rental. 
  8. Renter or designee must complete a checkout walk-through with our staff at the conclusion of the event.

General Rules

  1. Renter may only use the facility/facilities that have been identified and approved on the contract.
  2. Access to the rented facility will be granted during the time specified on the contract.  Renter will not have access to the room before the rental time.
  3. All rentals must conclude room activity by the stated completion time on your contract.  
  4. All persons attending an event on SVCC property shall abide by the policies of the Shoreview Community Center.  At their discretion, the SVCC staff may:
  1. Order the removal of any offender
  2. Order immediate removal of all alcoholic beverages from premises
  3. Revoke the rental contract immediately and order all persons from premises. 
  1. The Renter shall assume full responsibility for any unlawful act(s) committed in the exercise of the permit.
  2. The Renter may not sublet the facility, transfer, or reassign the reservation.
  3. For the sake of fire safety, the Shoreview Community Center strictly enforces room capacity limits.  This means that the number of guests attending your event (including children) is prohibited from exceeding: a. 300 people - Shoreview Room, b. 250 people - Community Room, c. 118 people - Snail Lake - ½ Community Room, d. 136 people - Turtle Lake - ½ Community Room.

Security:

  1. A security professional, trained to provide safety and support at your event is required on Fridays and Saturday evenings from 8pm until the end of your event.  The fee for the off-duty deputy is $75.00 an hour with a minimum of 4 hours.  All arrangements for this service will be provided by Shoreview Community Center Staff.

 Food and Beverages

  1. Renter may bring in their own food and non-alcoholic beverages for rentals in the Community Room, Shoreview Room, and Meeting Rooms. 
  2. A Renter who brings in their own food and beverages will not be granted access to refrigerators or any kitchen facility for the duration of the rental.
  3. No food prepping will be allowed unless the kitchen has been rented with a valid state of Minnesota caterer’s license.
  4. All chafing dishes used must be NSF commercial grade. Disposable chafing dishes are prohibited.
  5. No loose popcorn is permitted.

 

Kitchen Use

  1. Kitchen use is only available for rentals occurring in the Shoreview Room or Community Room during your rental time.
  2. Access to the kitchen requires payment of an additional rental fee.
  3. Access to the kitchen will only be granted to caterers licensed in the state of Minnesota.  A copy of the caterer’s license must be submitted to the Rental Team 14 days prior to your event.   The kitchen will not be opened unless the caterer’s certificate is on file with the Shoreview Community Center.  We cannot accept any caterer’s license on the day of your event.
  4. Please note: Dan Good (Dan Goode) Catering and Moe’s of Mounds View are not allowed to work in our facility.

Alcohol

  1. Alcohol can only be served for events occurring in the Shoreview Room or the Community Room.
  2. The Shoreview Community Center requires that all alcoholic beverages must be purchased from and served by our exclusive alcohol providers, Green Mill Shoreview and Shore96 of Shoreview.
  3. Please contact the alcohol provider for prices and service information.
  4. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed outside of the designated banquet rooms.
  5. Final service of alcoholic beverages shall be thirty minutes before the end of the rental.  Last call should be announced 15 minutes prior to bar closing. 
  6. Bartenders will not serve any attendee who appears overly intoxicated.

Supervision

  1. The group, individual, or organization using the Community Center must provide adequate adult supervision for the entire time that participants are in the building or on Community Center grounds. 
  1. Minors must be well supervised by an adult(s) 18 years old or older and should stay in designated rooms at all time during your event.  Renters and their guests may use the facilities, including the pool, track, fitness center, and playground only with the purchase of an admission wristband at the lower level Service Desk.  Admission wristbands are not included with the reservation.
  2. Inadequate supervision of minors may result in loss of the damage deposit.  

Room Set Ups

  1. The SVCC will provide the tables, chairs, and AV equipment associated with the rental.  Table linens, decorations, and kitchen supplies must be rented through an outside company. 
  2. Thirty days prior to your event, the Renter will need to complete a walk-through with our staff to finalize your set up and AV requirements, discuss plans for decorations, provide information on any deliveries, and review our policies. 
  3. The Renter is responsible for relaying any event information (setup, a/v, etc.) to the SVCC at least 30 days prior to the event.  Significant changes on the day of the event will be subject to an assessed fee.  
  4. Shoreview Community Center Staff will complete room set ups by the event start time.
  5. Any 3rd party deliveries must be scheduled during your reservation time.  Please let the rental team know of any special deliveries as this may affect your room set up.

Audio-Visual Equipment

  1. The Shoreview Community Center provides audio-visual equipment at no additional fee. 
  2. The Renter must request AV equipment in advance, either at time of reservation or during the pre-event walk-through.
  3. The following items are available:
  4. When using a screen and projector, it is best to use SVCC provided laptops. The SVCC cannot ensure the Renter’s equipment will work with our screen/projector. All SVCC equipment is PC-compatible only.
  5. Renter may bring in their own AV equipment; however, the SVCC will not provide any technical support.
  6. Media should be stored on a flash drive or DVD.  Media may not be copied onto SVCC laptops.                             
  7. It is highly recommended that the Renter test their media on our equipment prior to their event.  Please schedule an appointment with the rental team.
  8. SVCC Staff will set up the AV equipment as directed by the Renter. The Renter shall be responsible for the timing and operation of the AV equipment. 
  9. Renter should contact a Manager on Duty if there are AV issues during the event.
  10. The SVCC will neither store, nor take responsibility for, Renter’s media devices and personal AV equipment.

Decorations:

  1. Renter or their designee shall complete all decorating duties.
  2. Affixing anything to the floor, ceiling, wood molding or lights is strictly prohibited
  3. If you are planning to affix items to the walls or tables, you must use 3M Command Hooks or blue painters’ tape. Stick-on table skirts are prohibited.
  4. Decorating the public areas (bathrooms, entrance, lobby, etc) is not permitted unless prior approval is received from SVCC staff.
  5. Installation of decorations may not inconvenience any other group. 
  6. Emergency exits and doorways must not be blocked and a 36” clearance must be maintained at all times.
  7. Candles must be in non-flammable containers (i.e., votive, hurricane candle, etc).  Open pillars and candlesticks are prohibited. 
  8. Confetti, piñatas, glitter, bird seed, rice, rose petals, feathers, or other like items are strictly prohibited. 
  9. All decorations must be removed at the conclusion of the event.   We will not allow items to be stored overnight. 

Music/Audio/Entertainers

  1. Sound levels for bands & audio equipment will be monitored by management to ensure a level appropriate for the room size.   Sound levels shall not disturb other customers using the facility.
  2. All music will cease at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled rental end time. 
  3. Entertainers are required to leave the building at the rental end time to avoid additional rental time being charged against the room damage deposit. 
  4. Fog Machines are strictly prohibited in our facility. 

Clean Up:

Renter is responsible for the following clean up before leaving the building:

  1. Put all trash in the trash receptacles.  Recycling containers are available for items such as cans, plastic bottles, and paper.
  2. Have caterer clean up the kitchen.
  3. Remove all decorations. The SVCC is not responsible for any items left on site by Renter or any of the Renter’s vendors.
  4. Have all belongings out of the building by the contract’s end time.  This includes any 3rd party rentals and catering.
  5. On Friday and Saturday evenings, Renter shall clean up and remove all belongings from the building no later than midnight, or 1am if an additional hour was purchased in advance and pre-approved.

Liability/Insurance

Renter is responsible for the appropriate conduct of all the group members and guests, and for any loss, breakage, or damage to the rooms, equipment, or other SVCC property.  Renter shall assume full responsibility for any damages not covered by the event deposit. 

The City of Shoreview cannot be liable for any loss, damage, injury, or illness by the users of the facility.  The City cannot be held responsible for any items that are left at the facility by the Renter or contracted service provider.  The Renter using City-owned facility, equipment, and other items, assumes all liability for any personal injuries and property damage caused by the negligence of the Renter and its employees, officials, agents, and invitees.

Damage Deposits for the Banquet Rooms

Cancellation Policy

Shoreview Room, Wedell Community Room, and ½ Community Room reservation deposits are non-refundable.  All cancellations must be submitted in writing.  

Day Time Pool Groups

Welcome to the Tropics Indoor Waterpark! Please take time to read our general information and policies. This information will ensure that your group has an enjoyable and safe experience.

General Information

  • Reservations are required for groups of 35 or more. 
  • Final headcount and payment are due prior to your reservation date.   We do not provide refunds on unused wristbands.
  • If your group is tax exempt, the ST3 form is due at the time of payment in order to receive the tax exempt rate.
  • Pool groups outside of regular water park hours require a minimum of paid persons in order to use the water park amenities.      If your group arrives with less than the required minimum, you are still allowed to use the facility, but will not be refunded for the extra admissions.   Pool groups that have reservations during regular waterpark hours are not required to meet the minimums.   

            Group minimums for our pools:

    • Tropics Indoor Waterpark:  50 people
    • Bamboo Bay: 35 people
    • Tropics Indoor Waterpark and Bamboo Bay:  150 people

       

  • Chaperones receive complimentary admission and are encouraged to be in the water with their group.  All children ages 6 and under must be accompanied in the water by a chaperone.
  • An estimated headcount for your group is due at the time of booking.   Please contact us as soon as possible if your headcount changes by more than 10.
  • Please note that the Rental Office hours are Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.  You can reach the rental team at 651-490-4790 or rentals@shoreviewmn.gov.
  • If you are receiving the group rate, payment will need to come from a single payer.  We will not accept payment from individual group members.
  • If you are planning on bringing money for the Wave Café, it is crucial to inform staff when booking your event so we can plan accordingly.
  • Outside food is not permitted in the common areas of the building.  Rooms are available for rent if you choose to bring in outside food.  Please contact us you need a location to eat lunch.    Our space is limited and rooms may not be available.

IMPORTANT: Please follow the signs in the parking lot to the lower level entrance for bus drop offs and pickups. If your reservation is on a Tuesday in the months of June through October, please drop off at the lower level and then park the buses at the upper parking lot.  We appreciate your help in passing this along to the bus drivers

Pool Policies:

  • Safety breaks may occur at the quarter hour when needed.
  • We do not provide towels.  Swimmers must bring in their own towels.
  • NO DIVING!  This is a shallow water facility.
  • All rules and regulations established for the pool area must be followed.
  • All swimmers must take a shower before entering the water. This is an absolute necessity in maintaining quality pool water. Liquid soap is provided in the shower stall for your convenience.
  • Swimsuits are required to enter the pool.  No cut offs, t-shirts or other clothing is permitted.
  • U.S. Coast Guard approved lifejackets may be worn.  Complimentary lifejackets are available for daily use on a first-come, first-serve basis
  • Glass is not permitted in the pool area.  No food of any kind is allowed in the pool area.
  • All children ages 6 and under must be accompanied in the water by a chaperone.
  • Lockers are available in the locker rooms.  We also have complimentary big lockers available for groups.  Lockers will be assigned to pool groups and keys can be picked up at the lower level Service Desk.    Keys must be returned at the end of your visit.   A fee of $150 will be charged for any lost keys.  We strongly recommend locking up all personal belongings.
  • The whirlpool and upper deck areas are for ages 18 and above only.

After Hours Party

Rental Agreement

  • Once a reservation has been authorized, the holder may not transfer or sublet to another party the use of the reserved facility.
  • Fees are based on participant numbers. The facility will be formally reserved upon payment of the deposit, which is half of the minimum charge (45 people). Thirty business days prior to the event, the balance or the reservation minimum is due, plus the damage deposit of $100.00. All people attending the party must have a wristband, including chaperoning adults. For every 10 wristbands for youth attendees (aged 17 or under) that are purchased, 1 complimentary wristband will be given to a chaperone.
  • Upon arrival, please have all participants meet in the gym so we can get an accurate count and give out pool rules. The Manager on Duty will count the total participants. If there are more than the minimum that has been pre-paid, the balance is due at check in. Payment may be made by cash, credit card or check. Checks are made payable to: City of Shoreview.

General Information

  • Minimum ratio is 1 chaperone to 10 youth. Chaperones in attendance at the event are responsible for the appropriate behavior of the youths in attendance. Party attendees who break rules or access areas of the building not included in the rental may cause the damage deposit to be forfeited. All guests in attendance of your event (swimming and non-swimming) must be paid for. One chaperone for every ten youth present will be complimentary; any additional must be paid for.
  • After hours party attendees should arrive at the facility no earlier than 15 minutes prior to the rental start time. The coordinator of the rental should arrive 30 minutes prior to the event to meet with the manager on duty.
  • Attendees of the after-hours party are to use the lower level Community Center entrance and gather as a group in the gym to receive pool rules.
  • Decorations, banners or signs may not be pinned, taped, or otherwise affixed to the walls by products other than blue painter’s tape or 3M command adhesive products. Decorations, banners or signs may not be pinned, taped, or otherwise affixed to ceilings or windows.
  • The majority of the facility is carpeted. Please do not chew gum in the facility. Peanuts or sunflower seeds may not be served at events.
  • It is the responsibility of the applicant to consolidate trash in wastebaskets by the end of the rental time.
  • Food and beverages served during the rental must only be in the lower lobby area or Beachcomber Bay (if it is included in the rental). Please, no food or beverage in the locker rooms.
  • Smoking is prohibited inside the Shoreview Community Center. Designated smoking areas are outside both entrances.
  • The serving or consumption of alcohol in the building or on the immediate grounds is prohibited unless authorized by the General Manager. For safety reasons, no alcohol will be permitted in the pool area. Any individual who is intoxicated will be denied entrance to the pool area.
  • The applicant is responsible for all damages incurred to the facility during rental times. If there is no damage to the facility during the rental time, a refund of the damage deposit will be mailed in the week following the event.
  • The Shoreview Community Center staff are not liable for any loss, damage, injury or illness by the users of the facilities in the Community Center.
  • Coat racks will be set up in the lower level area and all jackets and bags should be placed on or near the coat rack. If upper level meeting rooms are included in the rental, the rooms may be used for storage of jackets and bags.
  • All items brought in by the renter must be out of the facility by the end time of the rental. Neither the City of Shoreview nor its employees can be held responsible for any items left at the facility by the renter.
  • 30 minutes prior to the conclusion of the rental, the group leader will tour the facility with the manager on duty to assess if any damages exist.

Pool Policies

  • All rules and regulations established for the pool area must be followed.
  • All swimmers must take a shower before entering the water. This is an absolute necessity in maintaining quality pool water. Liquid soap is provided in the shower stall for your convenience.
  • All food and drink consumption is restricted to the lower lobby only. Beverages in glass containers are not allowed anywhere on the pool deck. If provisions have been made to use the waterslide, all riders must be able to swim unattended to the stairs.
  • Floatation devices are not allowed in the pool.
  • Locker rooms will be accessible until 30 minutes after the pool rental time is over. After that, the locker room must be cleared of all personal items, so the over-night staff can begin cleaning the locker rooms.

Gym Policies

  • Volleyball and basketball equipment is available for your use.
  • Please, no food or beverage in the gym.
  • Use of the track or Fitness Center is not included in rental fees.
  • No black soled shoes in the gym.
  • No one will be permitted in the playground or gym activity room.
