  • Fitness Center Policies

    • Always have a wristband while in the Fitness Center.
    • Unauthorized use of cameras or videos (including cell phones) is prohibited in the Community Center.
    • Workout pants/shorts required.
    • No blue jeans or pants with rivets please.
    • Shirt & closed-toe shoes required. No open toe shoes.
    • Tobacco, food, glass bottles, & cans are not allowed in the Fitness Center.
    • Please do not drop or throw weights.
    • Please re-rack weights and return all other accessories to their proper locations.
    • Please wipe down machines after use.
    • Please be courteous by allowing others to use weights/ equipment in between your sets.
    • Personal belongings are not allowed on the floor (bags, clothing, etc.); please use designated lockers or cubicles. Free lockers for valuables are available across from the Service Desk.
    • Individuals must be 14 years of age or older to use the Fitness Center.
    • Youth ages 12 & 13 are permitted upon completion of Teen Equipment Orientation.
    • Personal training sessions must be conducted by Shoreview Fitness staff; third party personal training is not allowed. Personal training is available for purchase at our Parks & Recreation Desk located upstairs or by calling Amy Ferguson at 651-490-4768 or e-mail.
    • Weights and equipment are not to be removed from the fitness center.
    • 30 minute time limit on cardio equipment is enforced during periods of high traffic and when members are waiting for machines to become available.
    • Fitness desk phone is for use by Shoreview Community Center Staff and during emergencies only.
  • Basketball Court Policies

    • All individuals using the gym must be a member or purchase a wristband at the lower level Service Desk.
    • The use of weighted medicine balls is prohibited.
    • Respect all Community Center staff, patrons, and equipment.
    • Food and beverages are not allowed in the basketball courts.
    • No black soled shoes or shoes that mark the floor will be permitted. No bare feet, sandals, or street shoes.
    • Community Center staff reserves the right to determine all gym use and inappropriate behaviors by users.
    • Please refrain from:
      • Dunking, slamming, or hanging on the rims or nets
      • Running or bouncing balls in the hallways anywhere in the Community Center
      • Spitting, rough housing, wrestling, or pushing
      • Swearing, abusive, inappropriate language or gestures. Individuals showing this type of behavior may be suspended for the facility without refund. One year suspensions and trespassing notices can be issued.
  • Personal Training Policies

    • In consideration of accepting entry into personal training with Shoreview Parks and Recreation, participants waive any and all rights and claims for damages against the City of Shoreview, the Parks & Recreation Dept. or the school district and its representatives, successors and assigns for any and all injuries suffered by participants at any activity sponsored by these groups.
    • Participation in personal training grants the City of Shoreview the use of any photographs taken by the city, of the participants named on the personal training registration form, and in city informational publications released to the general public.
    • All Personal Training packages/sessions are non-refundable. Under extenuating circumstances such as illness or injury, alternative arrangements may be made at the discretion of the Personal Training Coordinator. If for any reason a trainer does not suit a client's needs, another trainer will be provided.
    • If a trainer is more than 15 minutes late, the client will receive a complimentary 50-minute session arranged at a mutually convenient time for the client and the trainer. If a client is late for the scheduled session, there will be a reduction in the session length equal to the time late. The client will be billed at the scheduled rate. If the client is more than 15 minutes late, the trainer has the right to cancel the session and bill the client for the session.
    • If for any reason, a trainer has to cancel their appointment with less than a 24 hour notice, the client will be provided a complimentary session at the next regularly scheduled time. In return, we request a 24 hour cancellation notice. If a 24 hour notice is not given by the client, the client will be charged for the full amount of the scheduled appointment.
    • Packages must be paid in full, on or before the first meeting with your trainer. Personal training sessions are 50 minutes in length. All personal training packages expire one year from date of purchase. Personal Training must be conducted by Shoreview Parks and Recreation fitness staff. Individuals sessions include one Personal Trainer and one client.
  • Membership Policies

    • Memberships gives members access to the Fitness Center (14 yrs and older), Gymnasium, Indoor Track, Waterpark and Indoor Playground.
    • Only Annual members receive the Group Fitness Discount.
    • Seniors must sign up for an Annual membership to qualify for free SeniorFIT classes.
    • Insurance Reimbursements are only offered on the Annual Memberships.
    • There is a membership cancellation fee of $100 if membership is canceled prior to the contract completion.
    • The Annual Membership Billed Monthly does require a 1 year agreement. Once the 1 year agreement is meant, the membership will continue on a month to month basis until member gives a 30 day notice of cancellation.
    • The Annual Membership Billed Monthly does require payment through an electronic fund transfer. We accept payment by Visa, Mastercard, or a checking /savings account.
    • Seasonal Memberships is a three month membership and must be three consecutive months from when member signs up.
    • Persons age 65 and older qualify for the Senior Citizen discounted rate. Youth are 17 and under. Dual Membership is two people residing in the same household. Family consists of 2 adults and dependent children under 23 living in the same household. Proof of dual and family member qualification is required.
  • Overall Building Policies

    • All children 6 and younger are required to have adult (16 years or older) supervision in our building at all times.
    • Organized meetings in our common areas are only permitted if organized through the Community Center.
    • Parties/gift openings or cake/cupcakes are not allowing in the common areas.
    • No overnight personal storage will be permitted in the building.
    • The Community Center reserves the right to deny admission to anyone who appears to be under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance.
    • Wristbands are required in the Fitness Center, Basketball Courts, Track, Indoor Playground, and Pool. Wristband can be purchased at our lower level Service Desk.
    • The City of Shoreview, and its personnel, are not responsible for items lost, stolen, left on site, or left in a vehicle.
  • Group Fitness Classes/Studio Policies

    • Refunds are issued for medical reasons only.
    • Participants are encouraged to register at least one week prior to the start of the session to prevent classes from being cancelled due to low enrollments. We will attempt to run all classes the first 1-2 weeks each session. After the second week, classes with fewer than 6 registered participants will be cancelled for that season's session.
    • Participants will be contacted immediately in the event a class is cancelled.
    • Membership is not required to register for our fitness classes!
    • Annual Community Center members receive a 30% discount off group fitness class registration fees (exclusions apply).
    • Silver&Fit members receive a 30% discount off group fitness class registration fees (exclusions apply). SeniorFIT classes are NOT included with a Silver&Fit membership and will incur a fee.
    • SeniorFIT classes are free to any senior with an annual senior membership.
    • Fitness class attendance for members is applicable to the minimum monthly visits required by insurance providers to receive insurance reimbursements.
    • Minimum age is 14. Ages 12 & 13 may sign up with a parent/guardian.
    • Our Fitness Studios are only used for group fitness classes or other Shoreview Community Center classes.
    • No gum, food, or beverages, with the exception of water, is permitted in the studios.
    • Please respect our studio by placing all equipment in its correct spot at the conclusion of class.
    • All participants must wear proper footwear. Please no black sole shoes or open toe shoes.
  • Locker Room Policies

    • The City of Shoreview is not responsible for items that are lost, stolen, or left in the facility.
    • Please keep all items locked in the lockers.
    • Small valuable lockers are available for fee by the lower level Service Desk.
    • The Fitness Center Locker Rooms are for adults 18 years or older and must have a wristband.
    • Family Locker Rooms are available and must be used for children of the opposite gender ages 4 or older.
    • Towels are not provided and should be brought from home. 
    • Do not leave items overnight in the lockers. Items left in the lockers overnight will be removed.
    • Please refrain from using cell phones in the locker room area.
  • Indoor Playground Policies

    • The Tropical Adventure is an unsupervised area. Children 6 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
    • Socks must be worn by everyone using the playground.
    • Wristbands must be worn at all times.
    • No running or rough play.
    • For children ages 1-12
    • No food allowed in the playground area.
  • Walking/Jogging Track Policies

    • Please walk in single file lines.
    • Walkers please stay close to the inside railings so joggers can pass by.
    • Please no cell phone use while using the track.
    • Wristbands are required and can be purchased at the lower level Service Desk.
  • Pool Policies

    • Children under the age of 6 must be under direct supervision of a swimming adult within arms reach at all times.
    • U.S. Coast Guard approved life jackets and Speedo life jackets may be worn. An adult needs to be swimming within arms reach of the child wearing the life jacket in the main pool. If there is no adult in the water the child can wear the life jacket in the BEACH AREA only. Complimentary life jackets are available for daily use on a first-come, first-serve basis.
    • All swimmers must take a cleansing shower prior to entering the swimming pool.
    • No person with or suspected of having a communicable disease which can be transmitted through use of the pool, shall use the pool.
    • The Shoreview Community Center is a shallow pool facility. There is NO diving in the pool.
    • Proper swim wear is required.
    • Spitting, spouting water from the month and blowing the nose in the pool is prohibited.
    • No running or rough play is permitted in the pool or locker rooms.
    • Glass objects of any type are not allowed in the pool area.
    • Certified lifeguards are on duty. Guests must follow all lifeguard instructions. Please refrain from visiting with the lifeguards. Their jobs are to ensure everyone's safety and must keep their eyes on the water at all times.
    • Persons with open or infectious sores are not permitted in the pool.
    • Young children and infants must wear disposable or reusable swim diapers. Swim diapers are available at the Service Desk.
    • Please see the Pool schedules at the lower level Service Desk or on our website for information about waterpark and lap swim hours.
    • Groups visiting the waterpark will be posted in the Pool Locker Rooms and at the Service Desk.
    • Aquatic staff are here to ensure your safety and enjoyment. Anyone acting in an unsafe or inappropriate manner will be asked to leave.
    • Aquatic staff reserve the right to modify the pool rules as needed.
  • Beach & Water Walk Policies

    • Guest must go feet first down the boat slide either lying on their back or sitting down the slide.
    • No climbing up the boat slide.
    • No walking up the boat slide or climbing on or around the slide area.
    • 2 guests at a time across water walk.
    • After falling off water walk, exit the area immediately.
    • When crossing the water walk pads, always continue to move forward and do not stop or move backwards.
    • No running across water walk.
    • Adults may help children across.
  • Waterpark Policies

    • No standing, jumping, or diving off the floatable sea creatures.
    • Slide off feet first, sitting or lying on your back off the sea creatures.
    • No rough playing or tipping of sea creatures.
    • Guests may not swim underneath the floatable sea creatures.
    • No hanging on or swinging the volleyball net.
    • No hanging on the rim or slam dunks on the basketball hoop.
    • It is recommended that riders be at least 48' tall to ride the water slide.
    • One slider at a time.
    • Parents of small children are not allowed to take them down the water slide on their lap or catch them at the bottom of the slide.
    • Life jackets cannot be worn down the slide due to possibility of posing a choking hazard.
    • No glasses can be worn down the slide.
    • No stopping, standing, kneeling or going doing down head first.
    • Upon exiting the slide, move out of the splash down and proceed immediately to the steps.
    • Flashing lights and loud music may cause epileptic seizures. Ride at your own risk.
  • Whirlpool Policies

    • Whirlpool users must be at least 18 years of age.
    • Elderly guests and guests suffering from heart disease, diabetes or high or low blood pressure should not enter the whirlpool.
    • Maximum time allowed in the whirlpool is 10 minutes.
    • Lengthy exposure may be hazardous to your health and result in nausea, dizziness, or fainting.
    • Pregnant women should consult their physician regarding whirlpool usage.
  • Kids Care Policies

    • Ages 6 months to 8 years old.
    • Parent/Guardian must remain in the facility.
    • There is a two hour maximum stay.
    • If the two hour maximum time is exceeded, or a child has not been picked up at the time the program closes, a $1 per minute late fee will be assessed per child.
    • $1 per hour rate per child.
    • Child must arrive in a clean, dry diaper. Extra diapers should be sent in the event child needs to be changed.
    • Food and beverages are not allowed in Kids Care. Exceptions will be made for pre-mixed bottles, or water in a Sippy cup and medical conditions requiring food during the child's visit.
    • If a child cries constantly for 15 minutes or more and Child Care Attendants are unable to comfort the crying child, a parent/guardian will be located to return to Kids Care.
    • Children should not attend Kids Care if they display any of the following symptoms:
      • Fever of 100 degrees or higher
      • Head lice or nits
      • Undiagnosed rash
      • Untreated eye infection
      • Diarrhea
      • Vomiting
      • Severe Cold
